ICC T20 World cup 2016 gets underway on 15th of March,2K16
The World no. 1 India to take on New Zealand in World Cup Opener
ICC T20 World cup 2016 ! Hosts and hot favorites to lift the 6th edition of the World Cup, India, look to start their campaign on a high against a formidable New Zealand squad in a group 2 clash when they lock horns in the inaugural match of this edition’s world cup at Dharamshala.
Team India has been on a high having won two straight T-20 series’- one against the mighty Australians in their own backyard and the other against Sri Lanka- and also not to forget the Asia cup which India won recently without any hiccups. India has suffered just a solitary victory in their last three series taken together while decimating the opponents each single time. Everything seems to be clicking for the team and the golden touch of MS Dhoni seems to have returned after the lull for sometime.
Back in their den, India looks dangerous than ever in the shortest format of cricket. The world beating side, though, would do great to prevent against any complacency as this format of the game is pretty unpredictable.
ICC T-20 WC 2016 : INDIA v/s NEW ZEALAND
Jolted by the retirement of their influential skipper, Brendon Macullum, just before the commencement of the World Cup, 50 over WCrunner ups New Zealand will look to Kane Williamson for some inspiration. Touted as one of the best batsmen in the world, Williamson took over the reigns of New Zealand cricket following the retirement of Brendon Macullum. Though they will be without the services of Macullum, they still have plenty of firepower in their tank to go the distance.
India and New Zealand both seem to have very fewer issues to address before the World Cup. Thus, the clash is going to be a very much intense one. The batting departments of both the teams have got going and there is not a single player in each of the lineups who is yet to fire. Similar is the case with the bowling lineup where the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and the old war-horse Ashish Nehra have strengthened the bowling line up and the Kiwis have always been a bowling heavy side.
VIRAT KOHLI V/s KANE WILLIAMSON (ICC T20 World cup 2016)
There are many small battles inside the main battle with the Kohli-Williamson one reigning supreme. Both have been regarded as the best batsmen at present in world cricket. Both are on a run making spree for a long time now and it would be very difficult for the bowlers to keep a check on them. These batting stalwarts form the mainstays of their respective batting lineups, hence the opposition needs to get them as early as possible otherwise, it could mean early curtains for the bowling team.
Though it’s not a story of only these two batsmen as both teams have some very good batsmen in prime form. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan are capable of destroying any bowling lineup at the top. Martin Guptill is not far behind for the kiwis in this regard.
Then comes the middle order where Men in Blue have a slight advantage over the Blackcaps. The likes of Suresh Raina and Hardik Pandya would be too hot to handle for the bowlers. Yuvraj Singh has found his mojo at just the right time and Rejuvenated MS Dhoni has also found his range just before the world cup thus making this the most dangerous batting lineup in this tournament.
Ross Taylor, Grant Elliot, the big-hitting Corey Anderson and Luke Ronchi are no mug with bat and can beat any opposition out of the match.
ASHISH NEHRA v/s TRENT BOULT (ICC T20 World cup 2016)
Since his return in the coloured clothing for team India, Nehra has been the one responsible for producing early wickets in almost all the matches. He along with Bumrah has wrecked havoc at the start of the innings by picking up quick wickets and flattening the opposition right at the start. Hardik Pandya, Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have also contributed well with the ball.
For New Zealand, Trent Boult and Tim Southee are the men to look forward to when it comes to the bowling department. India will have to survive their initial onslaught as they have the capability to deflate any opposition. Providing them good support are Mitchell McClenaghan, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls and Mitchell Santner Although they seem to a bit short of reserves when it comes to the spinning department where they have only Nathan Macullum and Ish Sodhi in their ranks.
All in all, this contest has all the makings for an intense content between the two very good teams. So Dharamshala and the world, get ready for the biggest cricketing extravaganza of 2016!
Update: The Big Match/Game: India Vs Pakistan (ICC Twenty20 World cup 2016) was Scheduled on 19th March 2016 at Dharamshala (HPCA) Stadium but due to some security reasons the venue is now shifted to Kolkata Stadium.
ALL THE BEST TO TEAM INDIA TO BECOME THE ONLY TEAM TO LIFT THE ICC T20 WORLD CUP FOR THE 2ND TIME!!!
