With back to back 4 hits: Sid enters in the A league of star bash
Sidharth Malhotra, a Delhi lad made a tremendous mark in Bollywood innings by delivering back to back 4 hits (Student of the year, Hassee toh phase, Ek villain, Brothers). The latest offering Brothers too minted fantastic collections at the box office by generating a whooping 52 crores in just 3 days of its release, taking the worldwide collection to the staggering 122 crores.
This movie also stars Akshay Kumar (khiladi of Bollywood) alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff in the pivotal roles. According to Sid, “Collection is an indication that people are watching your film and they want to see your film. If the collection increases, it encourages actors to perform even better”. His upcoming projects include Kapoor & Sons (opposite Alia Bhatt & Fawad Khan) and Baar baar dekho (opposite Katrina Kaif), both to be produced by Dharma Productions. Seems like Dharma productions found a gem among the ads (assistant directors) of “My Name is Khan”.
Besides, reports claim that he has been approached by the makers of the blockbuster Bang Bang sequel, the prequel starring Hrithik Roshan & Katrina Kaif. But, nothing is confirmed official yet. No one ever imagined that this 6 feet tall handsome hunk could ever make it long in the industry. He stated “’Nobody expected me to survive” when asked about the appreciations & motivation received from the insiders of the industry. “Every night I’d be plagued by doubts as I reflected on the day’s work and wished I’d rehearsed the dance steps more,” he reminisces. When compared him with the contemporaries new comers like Alia Bhatt & Varun Dhawan, with he shared the same screen space with them in their debut film “Student of the year”, he stated “Varun & Alia belong to the film fraternity so they have their relatives and parents to fall back on, whereas I’m just a newcomer who doesn’t have any solid back up.” Till now the journey sounds worthy and fast paced in just 3 years.
When Sidharth Malhotra, a simple Delhi lad, came to Mumbai for his debut film Student of the Year, he was taken aback by the glamour quotient of showbiz industry. He never imagined how quickly he’ld have to get accustomed to Bollywood’s social graces and lifestyle. “Yes, after the success of SOTY, one day I decided to buy a cotton quilt and some pillows. I walked down the lane to the shop, no sooner did I choose the pillows and quilt, the shopkeeper recognized me and instructed his workers to carry my stuff and leave it in the car, without knowing that I did not possess a car! I was stumped, made some excuses saying ‘Well! I have to shop for something else, why don’t they put it in an auto for me’. I was so relieved when I drove away in the auto,” he reminisces on how essential it is to maintain a high lifestyle for an actor residing in Mumbai.
After the amazing success of his last movie Ek Villain, in 2014, his status has improved. He bought a Mercedes for himself and considers it as his only extravagant commodity ever. On the contrary, Sidharth’s next milestone is to buy a house where he can shift his parents from Delhi to Mumbai. Though, it’s not an easy step for him to invest his chunk in the house at this point of time since he’s just 4 movies old. He claimed that he needs to wait a little longer and started saving as of now.
During the shooting of ‘Brothers’ he jelled up really well with his co star Akshay Kumar, who is believed to be a biggest prankster on a movie set. Akshay advised Sid that if he plans to own a two-bedroom flat, he’ld actually pick a 4BHK. If he is planning to bring in his parents, he must think of something even bigger as investing in a house will bring him a sense of security for the future.
